Measuring Bubble Hydrodynamics

Presaturation of gas is important if very precise measurements of bubble size are required. Depending upon the temperature, the effect may be small or large. A photo of a presaturation chamber can be seen to the lower left of the photo of a bubble size calibration study and a schematic is shown to the right. The gas enters the chamber, bubbles through the water, and saturated gas is drawn off the top. The presaturator should be at the same temperature as the experimental tank where the bubbles are made.
